Children
There's lots going of for children at St. Mary's. All of our work with 0-16 year olds comes under the banner of 'ignite', a specific ministry just for them, which includes everything from a full Children's Church programme every Sunday during the 10:30am service, to work in local schools, trips, residentials and after-school clubs.
ignite has it's own website with full details on all our children's provision; please click on the link below to open a new window and view it now.
Alternatively, if you just want a brief overview of what's coming up, you can check the St. Mary's Calendar. Anything with the prefix 'ignite' will be an activity for children/young people.
Where's the Information on 'Youthwork'?
At St. Mary's, we feel like one of the greatest challenges facing our ministry to under 16's is to 'let children be children'. In our media-saturated world, children are forced to grow up long before God ever intended them to. We believe the concept of 'youthwork' plays into this: 'youth' is perceived to be a time when children have all the opportunities of being an adult without any of the associated responsibility or life experience to draw on. Instead of following this pattern, we're making a stand and saying our God wants children to be children and adults to be adults - there is no third category inbetween the two.
